Anticipating the skills that will transform fashion
What skills will the fashion professional need in 2030?

The answer is not simple. The textile and fashion industry is undergoing a profound transformation driven by sustainability, digitalisation, artificial intelligence, the circular economy and new consumption models. The professional profiles demanded by the sector today are no longer the same as they were just five years ago, and will continue to evolve at great speed over the next decade.
That’s why Fashion Skills 4 Better goes beyond training. The project incorporates an International Observatory of Competences for Sustainable Fashion, conceived as a permanent space for analysis, monitoring and knowledge transfer between Europe and Latin America.
Its mission will be to collect, filter, analyze and communicate the main trends, needs and challenges that are redefining the future of the industry. Through collaboration with companies, vocational training centres, public institutions, experts and sectoral organisations, the Observatory will identify the emerging skills that fashion professionals will need to function in an increasingly complex and interconnected environment.

Designing will still be important but it will no longer be enough. The professionals of the future will have to understand the principles of sustainability and regeneration, integrate circularity into production processes, take advantage of the opportunities offered by new technologies, work in multidisciplinary teams, adapt to changing contexts and maintain an attitude of continuous learning throughout their professional lives.

The fashion of the future will need people capable of connecting creativity, innovation, social impact and environmental responsibility. People prepared to lead the transition towards a more resilient, inclusive industry aligned with the challenges of the 21st century.

Our big question is, are we preparing the professionals we will need tomorrow today?

From Fashion Skills 4 Better we want to contribute to building this future, generating useful knowledge for vocational training systems, guiding the updating of educational programs and helping to reduce the gap between the real needs of the sector and the skills that are taught in the classrooms today.

Whatever input you would like to make in this regard, we will be happy to hear it.
